About Sisu Freedom Foundation
Sisu Freedom Foundation is built on one core belief: people deserve a real opportunity to rebuild their lives after incarceration.
“Sisu” is a word that represents resilience in the face of adversity. It is the ability to keep moving forward even when the path is difficult. That idea is at the center of everything we do.
Our work focuses on supporting individuals before and after release through structured reentry programs that address real challenges like employment, housing, relationships, and personal growth.
What makes Sisu different is the people behind the work.
Our programs are led by individuals with lived experience by people who have been through incarceration themselves. They understand the realities of reentry firsthand. This creates trust, accountability, and guidance that goes beyond theory.
We partner with institutions, treatment providers, and community organizations to deliver restorative justice practices, trauma-informed support, and practical planning that helps individuals build a clear path forward.
This work matters because reentry is one of the most difficult transitions a person can face. Without support, many individuals struggle
to find stability and opportunity.
Sisu exists to change that.
